The Limitation of Memory Process

This is the first project that I started to consider how an apparatus works as a memory repository. In this project, I navigate the relationship among an old family portrait, the memory system inside the human brain, and a camera. I used an analog camera to compare how an old photograph aroused the memory of the instantaneous moment during the photoshoot inside one’s memory recalling system.

这是我初次尝试探索摄影仪器与人类记忆储存模式相似性的第一组作品。人脑遗忘与忆起的过程并非完全果断分开的，实际上，它们是互相流动的。人脑可以由一个纪念品，从本来已被遗忘而沉寂的回忆中，毫无预料地唤醒并记起某个片刻。这组作品中，我探索旧家庭照，记忆系统，和照相机的关系。我利用中幅相机模拟人脑如何由一张老照片慢慢唤醒其沉寂的回忆中拍照的一瞬。虽然片刻被唤起，但随着时间的流逝，那个片刻的具象还是会在意识里再次地逐渐模糊。
